About Levi's
Levi Strauss came to San Francisco during the Gold Rush and opened a dry goods business in 1853, supplying general stores across the American West. In 1873 his company and a tailor named Jacob Davis patented a way to reinforce work pants with metal rivets, and the blue jean was born.
More than 150 years on, the 501® is still the original, and Levi's still makes the cuts a westerner wants: the 505® regular fit, the 517® and 527™ bootcuts that sit right over a boot, and the Trucker jacket that has become a denim classic.
