About Schaefer Outfitter
Schaefer Outfitter was born in 1982 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where Francis "Cub" Schaefer set out to make dependable, hard-working gear with real western style. Four decades on, the brand calls the historic Fort Worth Stockyards home and still lives by the same idea: For Land, For Life.
Schaefer is known for outerwear that earns its keep, from RangeWax® waxed canvas brush jackets to Melton wool vests and soft fleece pullovers. It is one of the last full-line western ranch wear makers in the country that designs, cuts, sews and inspects its own garments.
Nigro's carried Schaefer years ago, and in 2026 we brought it back because our customers kept asking for coats that stand up to a Kansas winter and still look sharp in town. The first fall shipment is on the racks now in Shawnee.
