Levi’s Women’s
Levi’s women’s denim is sold two different ways — check which one you’re looking at.
Some lines are tagged in waist inches (24, 25, 26…), the way men’s jeans are. Others are tagged in even numeric sizes (2, 4, 6…). They are the same garment run under two numbering systems, and the table below converts between them. Our Classic Bootcut is a numeric one — a 6 there is a 28″ jean size, cut for a 29.25″ waist.

Body measurements, not the garment. The W sizes are Levi’s plus range. Note the join: an 18/20 and a 16W are both tagged jean size 34, but the plus cut is drawn for half an inch more waist and three quarters more hip. If you sit on that line, the plus one is the roomier of the two.
Levi’s also run an alpha waist chart on some bottoms: XXS 23–24″, XS 25–26″, S 27–28″, M 29–30″, L 31–32″, XL 33–34″.

This is the one to read if you’re buying a style that offers S / M / L for length rather than a number — the Classic Bootcut does. Levi’s don’t publish a length letter for the 28″ inseam. As with the men’s, this guide assumes a shoe; over a boot most folks want the longer one.

XXL and 1X are not the same size — a 1X is cut for two more inches of waist on the same chest. The X sizes are the plus line. Levi’s also number the plus tops 14 to 24, but they only put a letter against the even steps 14, 18 and 22, so we’ve left the unlabelled numbers off rather than guess at them.
Our Classic Bootcut
Levi’s publish this one as a mid rise of 9½″ with an 18″ leg opening, easy through the hip and thigh, measured on a size 27 waist. The M length is a 32″ inseam. That 18″ opening is a genuine bootcut — it will clear a boot shaft.
Levi’s don’t publish front rise, knee or thigh measurements for women’s jeans the way they do for men’s, so we can’t give you a fit-by-fit table on this side. If you want two women’s styles compared, come in and we’ll lay them flat and measure both.
