Los Altos Men's Size Guide

Los Altos Men’s

Start at your regular boot size, and choose the width carefully — that is what decides the fit on these.

Los Altos publish no size chart and no fit guidance of any kind, so there are no conversion numbers on this page that we could stand behind. What we can tell you is what we stock and what we see across the counter.

Sizes and widths we carry

Range
Sizes 6 through 14, in half sizes to 11.5 — then 12, 13, 14
Widths D/M (standard) and EE/W (wide)

Not every style comes in EE — check the width selector on the product page. If you wear a wide in other brands, take the EE.

Exotic skins

Most of this range is caiman, ostrich, teju lizard, python, eel, shark or stingray rather than calfskin, and Los Altos publish nothing about how those break in. From fitting them here:

  • Caiman belly and hornback have a firm, plated vamp. They give across the ball of the foot in time, but they do not stretch like calf — do not buy them tight expecting them to open up.
  • Stingray is the least forgiving of the lot. Take the width you actually are.
  • Ostrich and eel are the softest and mould quickest.
  • Toe shape changes how long a boot feels. A 3X or 7X snip toe feels longer than a round toe in the same size; the foot sits the same, the toe box just runs further.

Sizes and widths above are what we stock, taken from our own inventory. Los Altos’ own site (losaltosboots.com) publishes catalogues and a dealer list but no sizing chart, width table, fit guide or care page, so we have no maker’s figures to print. The break-in notes above are ours, not theirs.
