Carhartt Men’s
When you’re between sizes, Carhartt want you to go up — never down.
Their rule on bibs and overalls is “Size to the largest part of your waist,” and across the line, “If your measurement falls between sizes, buy the larger size.” Don’t add inches for layering either — the classic jackets are already “Built to be worn over layers,” so give us your true chest and the room is there.
Tops, sweatshirts and jackets
One chart covers shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, vests and jackets — Carhartt publish the same body measurements for all of them. These are your measurements, not the garment’s.

Classic jacket back length runs 26–30″. If you want a closer cut, Carhartt’s own advice is to size down or look at a Performance Fit jacket instead. Loose Fit is cut roomier through chest and shoulders; Relaxed Fit is a closer fit to the body.

We stock a lot of Tall in Carhartt. Here is exactly what the T adds:

Bib overalls — waist and seat
Our Carhartt bibs are sold waist × inseam, the same way a pair of jeans is. Find your waist in the left column; the alpha size on the right is what Carhartt call the same body in their own bib chart.

Inseam. Bibs come in 28, 30, 32, 34 and 36. Carhartt’s rule is “If your inseam length falls between sizes, buy the longer size.” Measure from the crotch seam to where you want the hem to sit over your boot.
Find your natural waist by bending side to side — Carhartt note it “may not be the smallest point.” Measure over undergarments with a cloth tape.
